A Nearer Moon by Melanie Crowder - ADVISABLE

Crowder, Melanie A Nearer Moon, 150 pages.  Simon and Schuster, 2015.  $8.  Content: G.

Luna has lived in her stilt village all of her life, but her elders remember a time before the swamp took over.  When Luna’s sister catches the swamp curse, Luna has to be brave in order to save not only young Willow, but her entire village.  Luna’s story intersects with that of Perdita, a sprite who ventures too far one day and is left behind when her fairy family escapes to a safer, new home.

Luna’s courage frames a gentle new fantasy perfect to read aloud as a bedtime story or for a younger reader who needs something longer than a chapter book.
