Coyote Moon by Maria Gianferrari - ADVISABLE

Gianferrari, Maria Coyote Moon, pictures by Bagram Ibatoulline.  PICTURE BOOK.  NON-FICTION.  Roaring Brook (Macmillan), 2016.  $18.

Dark pictures (coyote’s prowl at night, of course) and simple text frame this picture book about a mother coyote finding food for her pups one night.  A few facts are included in the back for further information.

This is a perfect example of a non-fiction book that is the perfect size for a young elementary student.  This is the kind of books teachers should be reading with their first graders for simple research, not 100 pages books as they have been known to require.

EL (K-3) – ADVISABLE.  Cindy, Library teacher
