The Fall of the House of West (Battling Boy Prequel #2) by Pope, Jetty & Rubin -ADVISABLE

Pope, Paul and Petty, J.T. The Fall of the House of West (Battling Boy Series Prequel #2) 158 pgs. First Second, 2015. $9.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: PG13 Violence: PG13
As a second prequel to Battling Boy, this graphic novel is more of the teen story of the monster fighter Aurora West. She feels that she is done learning from her father, famed Haggard West, to fight the monsters that have overrun their city.  She wants to work on her own, especially to solve and revenge the killing of her mother. Again, Aurora takes some dangerous chances in her relentless pursuit of her agenda.
The artwork has a super gritty style and the small format and black and white color scheme leads to some confusion in the plot and makes the action is harder to follow. I still think the monsters are too scary for elementary so I have suggested it for Middle and high school. But this series is fun and action packed, just like watching a movie. This new one has been my favorite so far.
