Where is the Parthenon? By Roberta Edwards – OPTIONAL

Edwards, Roberta Where is the Parthenon? Grosset and Dunlap( Penguin), 2016. $5.99 NON-FICTION
This book provides a simply explained historical backdrop for the building of the Parthenon. It describes the building and design. It delves into the mythology surrounding its statuary and use as a temple. It includes many interesting facts and mysteries. Readers also discover what the Parthenon has been through since its original construction.
I have a love hate relationship with this series. On one hand they are loved and manageable reads for all elementary readers, but on the other hand they only feature black and white illustrations. That drives me nuts, I want to see stellar photography!! I honestly don’t see myself adding this to my shelf where it would be lost in the DK books about Greek history. But I can see giving it as a gift or incentive to students.
