When Mischief came to Town by Katrina Nannestad -OPTIONAL

Nannestad, Katrina When Mischief came to Town 180 pgs Houghton Mifflin, 2015. $16.99 Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G Violence: PG
Set in the early 1900s of Denmark this is the story of a loved happy and quirky little girl named Inge. After her mother dies she must move to a very rural island with her grandmother. Hardly anyone there is happy and full of such joy and mischief, so Inge sets about to change that.
This is a cute story reminiscent of Pippi Longstocking or Anne of Green Gables. The mischievous adventures are actually pretty funny. The author does a good job creating the main characters, especially the hot and cold grandma.  There is some old fashioned discipline in this book and I wonder if young readers will understand this is normal for the time period without some explanation.
