The Berenstain Bears: Hospital Friends by Mike Berenstain - ADVISABLE

Berenstain, Mike  The Berenstain Bears: Hospital Friends  HarperFestival (HarperCollins), 2015.  $3.99  PICTURE BOOK  Content: G.

The Bear family goes to visit their cousin Fred who has had his tonsils removed.  While there, Dr. Grizzly gives them a tour of the hospital.  They see places such as the recovery room, physical therapy area and the waiting room.  When they are done the Bears are glad they have a nice hospital with many good doctors and staff.

In typical Berenstain Bear fashion, this book explores the topic of something that might frighten little kids.  This book explains hospitals and the different rooms and purposes for the hospital, so that little people who might be scared of visiting the hospital or who have to go there for a procedure can have a starting point to talk about it.  The illustrations are cute and the simple explanations make this book a good starting point for little kids who want to know what happens at the hospital.
