Red Butterfly by Sonnichsen - OPTIONAL

Sonnichsen, A.L. Red Butterfly, 385 p. Simon, 2015.  $17.  Content: G.

Kara has always lived a quiet, hidden life in China with her American mother and an American father who has not been back to China since she was a little girl.  When her American sister visits and become ill, Kara’s world falls apart as she learns why she has been kept a secret all of these years.  Now the decision to what to do with Kara leaves her in limbo.

This novel had no need to be written in verse.  It would be much better rearranged in novel form, as everything is written in complete sentences and nothing poetic exists within its pages except its form.  I just had to ignore the breaks and read the story to enjoy it.  Would someone reformat this please?

MS – OPTIONAL.  Cindy, Library Teacher
