Stand There! She Shouted; The Invincible Photographer Julia Margaret Cameron by Susan Goldman Rubin - - OPTIONAL

Rubin, Susan Goldman Stand There! She Shouted; The Invincible Photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, illustrated by Bagram Ibatoulline. 73 pgs. Candlewick Press, 2014. $16.99.  Language: G; Violence: G; Mature Content: G. PICTUREBOOK BIOGRAPHY.

This is the biography of photography pioneer Julia Margaret Cameron.  Best known for her 19th century photographs of famous people like Longfellow and Tennyson, her pictures were carefully staged as though they were paintings.  This beautifully illustrated biography combines the illustrator’s paintings with vintage photographs.

The author’s other Artist related biographies include Andy Worhol and Vincent Van Gogh. While the subject was not familiar to me, many of her photographs were, and accompanied by a well written life sketch, made a rather ordinary biography, extraordinary.  For the art lover.
