Iron Man: An Origin Story - ADVISABLE

Iron Man: An Origin Story, illustrated by Pat Olliffe and Brian Miller.  PICTURE BOOK.  Marvel (Disney Book Group), 2013.  Content: G.

How did Tony Stark become Iron Man?  He was a brilliant scientist and an enemy army injured him and kidnapped him.  He was put in a prison cell with Professor Yinsen.  They were supposed to make a weapon to help the enemy army, but instead they made an invention to fix Tony’s heart and a metal uniform to help them escape.  Tony decides that his metal uniform is too frightening so he creates a lighter, sleeker suit and becomes Iron Man.  He fights villains and runs Stark Industries.  The illustrations are more like a picture book than a comic book and help tell the story.  The text is nothing special, but it makes the Iron Man story less scary and more appropriate for the age group.

EL K-3– ADVISABLE.  Samantha Hastings, MA, MLS.
