A Bucket of Blessings by Sehgal - ADVISABLE

Sehgal, Kabir and Surishta Sehgal A Bucket of Blessings, illustrated by Jing Jing Tsong, PICTURE BOOK. Beach Lane Books (Simon), 2013. $17. CONTENT G.

Monkey and the other jungle animals are worried, because they can’t find water anywhere.  Monkey consults with Peacock, who lives at long way away at the top of a very high mountain.  Peacock asks Monkey to find even a little bit of water.  Through Monkey’s perseverance and kindness, water is returned to the animals.

FYI - while this is not an authentic traditional tale, it is based on the Indian tradition that peacocks dance just before a rain.  The illustrations feel like their are cut-paper, but they are actually a combination of block prints and digital rendering.  Fun, bright and just right for the text.
