The people of Changsha knew the two hills across the way were burial mounds, but it wasn’t until 1972 that the official excavation began. Inside they found a treasure trove of artifacts and information from the Han dynasty - a trove that has greatly increased the world’s understanding got that time period, its rituals and customs. While the photograph of Lady Dai’s cadaver on the cover of the book may be a selling point for students, I could see the adults around elementary students being a little squeamish. The information is excellent, so don’t let that cover dissuade you from purchasing this!
