Olshan, Matthew and Sophie Blackall The Mighty Lalouche,
40 pgs. Schwartz and Wade Books, 2013. $17.99. Content: G

Lalouche has lost his beloved job at the post office and now must figure out how he will support himself and his pet finch, Genevieve. He decides to try boxing, but is laughed at by the other boxers because he is so small. However, what they don’t know is that though he is small, he is nimble, fast, and strong. Will his speed and strength be enough for him to be the last man standing?

Readers will enjoy rooting for Lalouche in this beautifully illustrated book with an especially unique story. This book introduces both history and the French language to young readers in an accessible and inviting way. A fun read that youngsters will want to return to again and again.
