Thunder Horse (Ariol Book #2) by Emmanuel Guibert –ESSENTIAL

Dixon, Franklin Thunder Horse (Ariol Book #2) 124 pgs. Papercutz, 2013. $9.87.  Content: Language: G (0 swears);  Mature Content: G;  Violence: G.

This graphic novel is little stories about Ariol, the little boy donkey. He goes to school with other animal children and is obsessed with comics; namely Thunder Horse. The illustrations are bright and not particularity detailed.

This was an awesome laugh out loud read!! Although I wasn't fond of the illustrations the content is awesome. I think this might be one of the most authentic young boy portrayals I have seen in a long time. Its whitty and silly and hands down a great graphic novel to add to your collection. One of my favorite parts is when Ariol’s mom leaves him at the bookstore. The owner finds a new book for him and Ariol is so into reading it that he doesn't even notice that the owner falls off a ladder, breaks his leg, is carried off, and the store is closed!! (Note: Not totally wholesome but pretty close, one character use's the word "ding-a-ling" when attempting to describe a shape in a sonogram picture), so upper elementary is a better audience.
