Let’s Go Hugo by Angela Dominguez - ESSENTIAL

Dominguez, Angela Let’s Go Hugo. Dial (Penguin), 2013.  $17.  PICTURE BOOK.  Content: G.

Hugo, a little bird, is more than happy to walk everywhere he needs to go; he is not a fan of flying at all.  Then a new bird comes to his home by the Eiffel Tower and though Hugo tries to avoid flying by distracting Lulu with ground-based activities, if he doesn’t get help to deal with his fear, he knows he will lose his new friend.

It don’t know if it is because it is spring, but there are many new picture books about going forth with courage and doing new things.  And so far they are all pretty adorable.  Hugo is no exception – I liked the illustrations, I liked the message and I liked that Hugo turned to someone for help with his fear.
