Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins - ADVISABLE

Higgins, Wendy  Sweet Evil Harper Teen, 2012. $8.99 464 pages.  Content:  Language: PG-13 (20 swears; 2 God); Sexual Content: PG-13; Violence: PG-13.

Anna is a sweet girl who is loved by her adoptive mother Patti and her best friend Jay, but she has a secret that even those who love her don’t understand.  Her five senses are highly sensitive, she can see people’s emotions and she continues to gain more powers as she grows older.  One night at a party with Jay she finds another person like her named Kaidan.  Kaidan is the son of the Duke of Lust, and it is his job to push others to sin.  Anna and Kaidan are drawn to each other, and they are trying to teach each other what they know about being the children of demons, but there are larger powers at play than their interest in each other.  Anna can’t continue to be a caring sweet girl (even though she is part guardian angel-from her mother), she will have to learn to draw others to sin, or the council of dukes will get rid of her.  Kaidan has been raised by his evil father and is drawn to Anna’s goodness, but to protect her he must keep his head in the game.

This is the beginning of a trilogy and the characters have great chemistry.  There is a lot of sexual tension  throughout the book so it is very PG-13.  The storyline moves quickly with lots of action and great minor characters.  I couldn’t put it down and I’m excited to read the next book.

HS-ADVISABLE.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
