Despite her abililty to control Earth elements, Dancia is hesitant to be a part of the Delocroix Academy’s top secret program. As she dates, Cam, she realizes there are a lot of secrets. Like what happens to the other paranormal teens who don’t get initiated into the program and why did her friend, Jack, run away instead of joining the program. Shortly after taking a loyalty pledge to the program, Delacroix is attacked and Jack starts sending Dancia messages that start causing her to wonder which group is really the enemy: the people who are threatening the academy or the academy itself.  Will Dancia and Cam be able to trust each other? Was Jack right to leave the academy? Who is the real threat?

A great mystery for supernatural fans. The characters are well-developed. The plot is intriguing and does a great job of holding the reader’s interest. Readers who like mystery, paranormal, and teens with superpowers will enjoy reading this book. MS, HS. ESSENTIAL. Reviewer: Jessica Moody, Library Media Specialist, Olympus Jr. High.
