The Tasty Tale of Chewandswallow by Rick Barba

Barba, Rick The Tasty Tale of Chewandswallow illustrated by Pete Oswald, Justin Thompson, and Andy Bialk, 24 p. Simon Spotlight, 2009. PICTURE BOOK. $3.99. This is a retelling of the movie "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." Without being too long or too wordy, the story outlines all of the main details from the movie. Flint, a brilliant inventor, has been working all his life to create an invention that would be a success. After countless failures, he finally succeeds in creating a device that changes water to food! This invention puts the town of Swallow Falls (later renamed Chewandswallow by the Mayor) on the map....but not for long! Disaster strikes when the food machine gets overloaded with orders and starts creating 3 foot long hot dogs and the like. Can Flint use his genius to save the town?! This is a fun story and great movie. Kids will love the book as it follows the movie and the illustrations are identical to the characters in the movie. EL-ADVISABLE. Whitney, Library-Teacher.
