Duke Kahanamoku is one of the most famous Hawaiians. He was born at the
turn of the twentieth century and took part in many Olympic swimming events. He
was also an amazing surfer who brought surfing to renown around the world. He
was friendly and believed in showing love to those he met. This book chronicles
his life and historic moments. Young readers will be interested in this
unorthodox historical figure and reading about his accomplishments will give
them a different perspective on what makes a strong athlete. I enjoyed learning
about him and I think this would be a good book for those practicing their
