Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman - ESSENTIAL

Shusterman, Neal Thunderhead, 504 pages.  Simon & Schuster, 2018.  $19.  Language; PG-13 (30+ swears, 0 ‘f’); Mature Content: G; Violence: PG-13 (deaths, some bloody)

Rowan has remade himself as Scythe Lucifer – illegally targeting corrupt scythes for reaping, but the entire scythedom is out to capture him.  Cinta is now Scythe Anastasia, reaping with compassion, but butting heads with the new order scythes who still look to the deceased Scythe Goddard as their role model.  Thunderhead sees everything, but can do nothing to effect Scythes and the reaping system.  Or can he?  While the Scythes may have thought survival was their most important feat, they have no idea what the world has waiting for them.

Shusterman delves deeper into his creation, giving us a look into the mind of Thunderhead and into the human psyche.  I was not pleased with a couple of developments in the story, but I won’t give out any spoilers, no matter how mad I am.  If you want to talk about the book, feel free to contact me.  I have much to say.  But, you will not be disappointed by this.
