The little mermaid longs for the world above, and when she gets her chance, she helps to save a prince whose ship has sunk. She becomes obsessed with him and make a faustian deal with a sea witch to gain her legs. Although she spends time with the prince, her lack of voice, and his remembrance of another rescuer leads him to virtually ignore her. When given the chance to get her legs back in exchange for an act of murder, the mermaid ends chooses her own ending. Feature graphic novel illustrations.
Although I am a big fan of as close as possible to original fairy tales, the artwork in this graphic novel would make me pass on this book. Though the water was beautifully done, the other scenery and especially the characters were not artwork that I would choose for a graphic novel. I would like to see this story crafted by an artist with much more skill. I have started to expect low quality from Papercutz graphic novels, and this one was no exception.
