Brothers Unite (Secondhand Heroes #2) by Justin Larocca Hansen -ADVISABLE

Hansen, Justin Larocca Brothers Unite (Secondhand Heroes #2) 158 pgs. Dial (Penguin), 2016.  $11. Language: G (0 swears) Mature Content: G Violence: PG13 (murder, beating) GRAPHIC NOVEL

Tucker and Hudson discover the items their mom bought at a local yard sale have magical powers. They decide to become super heroes! But a neighborhood man also ends up with some items from the sale and doesn't have the same good intentions. The boys adventure continues as they find their mom bought a trunk at the same sale. Now they are training harder than ever -they have a dragon to face in another world.

I love this book for middle school, it has hopeful main characters with an authentic relationship, lots of plot twists, and is just really creative. The artwork has a darkness to it, that gives it a creepy feel. The plot is a bit intense for elementary as the nemesis murders his mother in a fit of rage. I recommend for 6th grade and up.
