Traveler by L. E. Delano - ESSENTIAL

Delano, L. E.  Traveler.  321 pages.  Swoon Reads (Feiwel and Friends), 2017.  $10.99.

Violence: PG.  Sexual Content: PG (light kissing and innuendo).  Language: PG (34 swears).
Jessa is a daydreamer and a writer and your average teenage girl, until Finn, a character from her dreams shows up.  He isn’t pretend.  He’s just from another reality where Jessa died.  In fact, Jessa’s are being killed all over in different realities, but they don’t know why.  Both Finn and Jessa are travelers, they can visit their other selves in different realities by using mirrors as portals.  Finn explains that, “Every choice comes with consequences, Jessa.  Every choice.”  The choices you make can create different realities.  Jessa visits a reality where her parents aren’t divorced and her brother isn’t autistic.  A reality where she is deaf and in love her best friend Ben.  A reality where the USA never fought the revolutionary war and the Finn there is an Irish pirate (swoon).  But no matter how many realities she visits, she can’t escape her own reality where someone is trying to kill her.
Teens will be instantly drawn into this irresistible read.  What girl could resist your dream-guy come to life?  Especially in pirate form?  The other realities Jessa visits are thought-provoking possibilities about the choices we make and how it changes our lives.  The plot is intricate and the pacing is fast.  Recommend to both contemporary and fantasy readers.  Expect a sequel.
