After the Game by Abbi Glines - OPTIONAL

Glines, Abbi  After the Game (Field Party, #3), 343 pgs.  Simon Pulse, 2017.  $18.99  Content: Language: R (56 “F”; 83 swears); Mature Content: PG-13; Violence: PG-13.

Riley and her daughter have returned to Lawton to help Riley’s grandmother who has dementia.  Riley left Lawton two years ago because when she told the police that Rhett, Lawton’s golden boy, had raped her the town shunned and persecuted her.  Now that she is back, she doesn’t care what people think of her, and Riley is surprised that Brady, the town football hero, acts like he wants to be friends.  Brady feels guilty about the way he treated Riley before and decides that he believes her and wants to protect her.  Riley’s strength also helps Brady get through his family’s hardship as well.

This story is told in alternate voices between Brady and Riley.  I like the characters and the story line was interesting.  This book has a lot of content including a rape (not details, but still upsetting), language and heavy make-out sessions.  Also the ending wasn’t very satisfying.

HS – OPTIONAL.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
