Come With Me by Holly M. McGhee - ADVISABLE

McGhee, Holly M.  Come With Me  Illustrated by Pascal Lemaitre  PICTURE BOOK  G.P. Putnam’s Sons, 2017.  $17.99  Content: G.

A little girl is frightened by all the unrest she sees on the news, so she asks her dad if there is something she can do to make the world a better place.  Her father takes her for a walk and as they walk they smile and wave at all the different types of people they see.  When she asks her mother the same question, her mother takes her shopping and shows her all the diversity around her.  The little girl decides she wants to go for a walk on her own and she meets a little boy and they draw flowers with sidewalk chalk with some other kids which brings happiness to all who sees them.

This is a sweet and simple story about how little acts can bring hope and happiness in a world that is overwhelmed with sadness.  This is a great way to get kids talking about their anxieties that they see in the news and how they can make a difference.  The illustrations are simple and sweet and the message is powerful.
