Newton’s Rainbow by Kathryn Lasky - OPTIONAL

Lasky, Kathryn Newton’s Rainbow: The Revolutionary Discoveries of a Young Scientist, pictures by Kevin Hawkes.  PICTURE BOOK.  Farrar Straus Giroux (Macmillan), 2017.  $18.

Lasky takes a long look at the early life of Isaac Newton, including the forces that formed his life experience and the discoveries and theories he formed that to this day inform our world.

This looks like a picture book, but each page is text dense, so this book occupies a strange middle space between picture book and chapter book – not an early reader.  This makes it difficult to pinpoint a use.  Perhaps as a research help for a biography project.  It could even be a good example of long (2700 words is long for a student) biography. It is however, not a simple read that you could use as an opener or class discussion.
