Alice and Lucy Will Work for Bunk Beds by Jaine Temairik- OPTIONAL

Temairik, Jaime. Alice and Lucy Will Work for Bunk Beds, PICTURE. Disney Hyperion, 2016. $16.99. Alice and Lucy are sisters who agree on everything. Except their favorite food and sharing a bed. They decide to work up the cash to get themselves a bunk bed. They get a job at the bakery babysitting a cake until it is picked up. Unfortunately, they get bored and end up destroying the cake. A cake still needs to be made to save the wedding day and Lucy and Alice decide to combine favorite foods and make a peanut butter and jelly cake. It’s a hit at the wedding and they are paid enough to get their new bed. With which they promptly share the top bunk. The cover of this book has a old fashioned feel to the illustrations, which isn’t necessarily unappealing in itself, but also isn’t very intriguing. The story is somewhat haphazard and a little background and personality building with the main characters would make the book more interesting. The reader would be more involved. I was a bit unimpressed. EL (K-3), EL- OPTIONAL. Reviewed by Shay, School Librarian
