The Stars Never Rise by Rachel Vincent - OPTIONAL

Vincent, Rachel  The Stars Never Rise (Stars Never Rise, #1), 359 pgs.  Delacorte Press, 2015.  $17.99  Content: Language: PG-13 (66 swears); Mature Content: PG-13; Violence: PG-13.

Nina Kane has provided for herself and her sister, Melanie, for a long time now.  She tries to stay under the radar because her mom is not a good parent and Nina doesn’t want to be separated from her sister.  The world they live in is run by the Church and is very strict, so when it comes to Nina’s attention that Melanie is pregnant, they have to figure a way out of the city.  Compounding their problem is the fact that their mother has been overtaken by a demon.

This book is crazy sauce.  It’s dark, disturbing and bleak with a lot of violence, it’s on the border of rated R violence, except it’s not overly descriptive.  There is a lot of action, but not a lot of character development.

HS – OPTIONAL.  Reviewer, C. Peterson.
