A Hat for Mrs. Goldman by Michelle Edwards - ADVISABLE

Edwards, Michelle A Hat for Mrs. Goldman, illustrated by G. Brian Karas.  PICTURE BOOK.  Schwartz & Wade (Random), 2016.  $18.

Mrs. Goldman is always knitting hats for everyone in the neighborhood, but her little neighbor, Sophia, realizes that Mrs. Goldman doesn’t have a hat of her own.  Sophia’s job is to make the pompoms for Mrs. Goldman’s hats, but she did learn how to knit last year.  Maybe Sophia can make a hat for her friend – and maybe her pompoms will save the day.

The will first of all be a big hit with the knitting crowd.  Gift idea, folks!  But also, it is a good classroom book, whether to introduce a crafting segment (pompoms or knitting), or to talk about friendship and seeing a need and filling it.

GIFT – ESSENTIAL.  EL (K-3), EL _ ADVISABLE.  Cindy, Library Teacher
