The Voyage to Magical North by Claire Fayers - ADVISABLE

Fayers, Claire The Voyage to Magical North, 311 pages  Henry Holt and Company (Macmillan), LLC, 2016 $16.99.

Content: G.

Brine Seaborne is a girl found in a boat in the ocean, clutching a magical and highly valued starshell. She is taken in by an irritable magician to keep house for him and his apprentice, Peter. Peter and Brine get into some trouble and flee their island home. They are rescued from the ocean by pirates on the ship Onion. Brine and Peter find themselves caught up in the pirate’s quest to find Magical North. They are in for a magical quest filled with magic, monsters, ghosts and great adventure.

This is a great book, fun to read, and I found myself rooting for Brine and Peter. Brine does not know who she is and her journey to self-discovery is great. Peter is a magician in training, but greatly lacks in self-esteem, and believing in his own abilities. This is a wonderful and magical story. The characters in the book are well developed and the story was great. I have already ordered copies of the book for my own library.
