The Best Worst Thing by Kathleen Lane - OPTIONAL

Lane, Kathleen The Best Worst Thing 197 pgs. Little, Brown and Company, 2016. $16.99. Language: ( 3 swears, 0 “f”); Mature Content: G; Violence: PG.

Maggie worries a lot.  She’s worried about school, she’s worried about her dad, and now she’s worried that a murderer is loose and will kill her family.  Maggie exhibits OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) behavior as she says every wish/prayer twice, counts as far as she can in one breath, checks every door and window (in a particular order) and can’t stop planning how to free the rabbits that live next door.

Maggie is anxious the whole book, getting worse as the story progresses, however this anxiousness is not really addressed, which is irritating to an adult.  I’m afraid that readers her age will find her weird, upsetting, annoying.  This is difficult to recommend.
