Panther Chameleons: Color-Changing Reptiles by Rebecca Hirsch - OPTIONAL

Hirsch, Rebecca E.  Panther Chameleons: Color-Changing Reptiles  Lerner Publications, 2016. $9.00  PICTURE BOOK  Content: G.

Panther Chameleons from Madagascar are explained through pictures and factual sidebars.  Eight other reptiles such as saltwater crocodiles, iguanas and geckos are also explained and then compared to the Panther Chameleon.  There are cool pictures and interesting facts throughout this book, but the layout is super confusing.  At times there are diagrams comparing the reptile against the Panther Chameleon, and other times there are not.  Also there seems to be a big difference between some of the reptiles and it’s a wonder they are being compared at all--not all of them are "color-changing reptiles".  The cover is deceiving because it looks like the entire book is going to be about chameleons but it is not.  The amount of facts and information move this to upper elementary, but there are better reptile books out there.
