Poor Rose tries so hard to do things the way Mrs. Benson wants her to, but she is positive she will never do anything to merit a star next to her name on the blackboard.  Mrs. Benson doesn’t give stars for daydreaming or milk spilling, you know.  There must be something Rose can do to merit a star!

Many many students will empathize with Rose and her enthusiasm and her being not quite able to get the hang of classroom order.  I can think of some teachers who should read this too, in fact, in order to remember what it is like to be small and learning.
