The Chantress Fury is a book about a young lady, Lucy, who is the last Chantress. She controls water and wind with a song she sings. She is a trusted confidant of King Henry. As the Chantress, Lucy could bring powerful people down and humble them with her songs. There was a mix of a awe and distrust surrounding her throughout the kingdom. Eons ago a wall was built between the mystic and real worlds, keeping the passage between worlds closed. A crack in the wall proves to destroy the world we know with floods and sea monsters and forms that can take on the impression exactly of other humans. Someone must save the kingdom. Lucy, the Chantress hears the call from the seaters, “We are coming, the sea is coming!”

I liked the way the author used real history combined with unexplained magic. It kept the story realistic and yet a fantasy page turner. The love interest continues on from previous books of the trilogy. Lucy and Nate have been separated, Will they be able to mend their relationship, or will another catch his eye? Is the monster that’s inside Lucy too repulsive for Nat? I liked this book and would recommend it to other readers who enjoy magic and fantasy.
