Adelice has escaped the Guild and made it to Earth, but that doesn’t mean she is safe. The Guild has long arms and dark secrets. They will do anything to keep their power. The people of Earth seem to be friendly, but each new character has their own agenda - and not really any sympathy for Adelice. Even her parents have their own secrets and an agenda. There may not be anyone Adelice can trust.
I actually felt a little ripped off in this sequel. The first book introduced such an interesting world, but this book abandons that world and drops us off on Earth - really not as interesting. Adelice still faces plenty of danger and betrayal and problems, but the manipulations of reality are completely missing. I want fewer guns and more of the Spinster’s talents.
