Deception’s Princess by Esther Friesner - ADVISABLE

Friesner, Esther Deception’s Princess, 312 p. Random House, 2014.  $18.  Langauge: G; Mature Content: G; Violence: PG (animals killed violently).

Maeve is the coddled youngest daughter of the High King in Ireland.  She has always been able to spurn the advances of the king’s followers, who only want her for the kingdom that she brings with her.  A few years earlier, her willful actions got her best friend killed by the king’s machinations.  Now she has made friends with the son of a powerful druid.  Everyone has something they want out of Maeve.  She may have to do something completely desperate if she wants to carve out a life she can call her own.

Friesner captures the red-headed Irish princess, fiery of heart and temper, perfectly.  Maeve is another Friesner princess with a mind and destiny of her own.
