Thor: An Origin Story adapted by Thomas, Rich –ADVISABLE

Thomas, Rich Thor: An Origin Story 48 pgs. Marvel Press, 2013. $8.99  Content: Language: G (0 swears); Mature Content: G; Violence: G. PICTURE BOOK
In order to rule Asgard, Thor must prove himself. His father sends him to earth, with no memory, in order that he can learn some humility. He works hard to become a doctor and help others. Eventually he is led back to his signature hammer and regains his memory.
This story is complex as all get out. The part about Loki is fairly confusing too. But none of this matters because the students LOVE learning about super heroes and they are no strangers to complex names and plots when it comes to their favorites, like anything to do with Star Wars for example. The illustrations are big and bright and action packed. This book will be a hit in my library for sure. If this helps students understand more complex words and plots, I am all about adding popular cultural content like this.
