Katie and her outsiders companions, have been kicked out of the Amish community, despite their help in fighting the vampires that decimated their neighbors. They find themselves in the aftermath dystopia of a world dealing with a vampires overrunning the planet. When they find a community of people that seem to glow in the dark, they must decide if they are going to be a part of the fight or keep running.

I rated the first book in the series as Public only (see here). But I loved this second book book as well but unlike the first one, I found nothing in it that would be inappropriate for a high school library. It was grim and interesting and creative. I loved the explanation for why religious places were sanctuaries from the vampires, very smart. The trip through this world was absolutely chilling and intriguing. I think students will love this book.
