Soltis, Sue Nothing Like a Puffin, illustrated by Bob Kolar.  Candlewick, 2011.  $16.  Content: G.  PICTURE BOOK.  How is a puffin like a pair of jeans?  Huh?  Yep, a puffin is just a tiny bit like a pair of jeans.  And the author proceeds to compare a puffin to a variety of other things that a puffin is a bit like and other things that it is a lot like.  What a great way to teach students about comparison and contrast.  I don’t care what level your students are at, this book does a great job of getting the point across.  And it will wake curious minds to look at the world just a bit differently.  EL – ADVISABLE.
