You'll like it here (Everybody Does) by Ruth White -ADVISABLE

White, Ruth You'll like it here (Everybody Does), 272 pgs Delacorte Books for Young Readers, 2011. $13.06.
Meggie and David Blue are different, so is their family. When these differences stand out, they must flee the town they have been calling home.
When something goes wrong, their family finds themselves in a city that is more like a jail. Good intentions and greed have produced a leadership that controls their residents every move through fear, brainwashing, and drugs. The family plans for their escape and tries to survive.
Despite some annoying inclusions of famous names, which jarred me out of the story, I really enjoyed this book. It’s well written and interesting. Meggie and David are characters which students will relate to; they are a bit snarky, whip smart, and have a realistic banter. The message portrayed here, about government control, would make a great class discussion.
Elementary - ADVISABLE. Reviewer: Stephanie MLS graduate.
