Mine! by Shutta Crum- ESSENTIAL

Crum, Shutta.  Barton, Patrice.  MINE!  32 Pgs.  Knopf Books for Young Readers, 2011.  $16.00.

Inside cover:  “Have you ever had a toy you really, really liked?  Have you ever had A LOT of toys you really, really liked?  Have you ever said, “MINE!”?  If so, this book is for you!  This playful picture-based story about two very young children and an adorable dog navigating the trials and triumphs of sharing is prefect for the littlest readers.”

Although written for babies or preschoolers, this book is a must have for all ages.  The pictures tell an incredible story and should be in every home and younger classroom.  This book could definitely be used on a unit about emotions, feelings, friendship, or sharing.  There is virtually no text, so one must look at the pictures to find the story line.  And the reader will not be disappointed-  the illustrations are fantastic!  We laughed so hard, we cried!  Every child can relate to the feelings and emotions of these two adorable characters.  My kids wanted to read it again and again.
