Two Moon Princess by Carmen Ferreiro-Esteban - OPTIONAL

Ferreiro-Esteban, Carmen Two Moon Princess, 328 p. Tanglewood Press, 2007, 2010.

Andrea is bored stiff by the lives of the ladies in her father’s kingdom.  After years of freedom and learning the things that a knight needs to know, she is devastated when she learns that it is now time for her to become a lady – that her father was never going to let her be a knight.  In her distress, Andrea decides to follow her Uncle Tio, who has a mystery around that Andrea has never cared to penetrate.  As politics and personal lives become messy in her kingdom, Andrea goes somewhere – somewhere she never expected.  And the consequences of her rash actions will have far-ranging repercussions – for herself, her family and her entire world.  Andrea’s story gets very complicated at times, as many more characters become involved.

This book was originally published in 2007 and then the paperback in 2010.  I totally missed it the first time around – and I am not so sure I minded.  Andrea is feisty, but self-centered (okay, what teenager isn’t) and her actions have mortal consequences.  She wasn’t heroic enough for my to engage fully.
