The Red Blazer Girls: The Vanishing ViolinBell, Michael D. The Vanishing Violin. Alfred A. Knopf, 2010. Pgs. 329. Language: G, Violence: G, Sexual Content: G

After finding the Ring of Rocomadour, Sophie and her friends have acquired a name for themselves as Red Blazer Girls, detectives. This time, however, they may be over their heads. The headmistress of their school wants them to find out who is sneaking around the school fixing things. A mysterious benefactor wants Sophie’s friend, Madeline to solve his puzzles in order to give her a rare violin that was believed to have been stolen many years ago. The girls’ friend, Mr. Chernofsky, has someone break into his music store with no clues as to how they broke in or who they are. The three cases seem connected somehow, but the girls aren’t sure how. Can Sophie and her friends figure out the three mysteries and maintain their reputation for being able to solve any mystery?

A wonderful, intriguing mystery filled with wonder and suspense. The characters are well-developed. The plot is well-done. Readers who like puzzles, mysteries, and strong characters will enjoy reading this book. It is also recommended that you buy the first Red Blazer Girls in the series, because your readers won’t be happy with just one.
