Fairy School Dropout Undercover by Meredith Badger-ADVISABLE

Fairy School Dropout UndercoverBadger, Meredith, Fairy School Dropout Undercover. Feiwel and Friends, 2010. Pgs. 141. Language: G, Violence: G, Sexual Content: G

Being a fairy is not always so great. At least, that’s what Elly Knottlewed-Eversprightly says. She’s been kicked out of every fairy school she’s gone, because she’s just no good at being a fairy. When the chance finally comes for her to go to human school, Elly can’t wait. Life isn’t so peachy, however, at human school. On the night before school starts, her chance almost ends before it begins. When her parents and baby sister get called away on an emergency, super-secret mission, Elly soon finds out that being a fairy all on your own isn’t so fun, even if you’re staying with your best friend. Things that are considered normal for fairies, like flying or riding your hoverboard to school, are not okay among humans. A major no-no especially is telling people you’re a fairy. When Elly senses another fairy at school, she gets worried. Things only get worse when the most popular girl in school starts a fairy club without inviting her. Is their a fairy in school up to bad deeds? Can Elly keep her fairy identity a secret? Can Elly make it in the human world without her parents helping her?

A fun, quick read for fairy fans. The characters are entertaining and well-developed. The plot moves quickly and does a good job of holding the reader’s interest. Readers who like fairies, humor, realistic fiction, stories about being new in school, and friendship will enjoy reading this book. EL (K-3), EL(4-6), ADVISABLE.
