The Bat Scientists (Scientists in the Field Series) by Mary Kay Carson. Tom Uhlman (Photographer).

Carson, Mary Kay. Uhlman, Tom. The Bat Scientists (Scientists in the Field Series), 80 pgs. Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, 2010. $18.99. This book is about scientists who study bat’s behavior. Scientists go into caves and explore. They try to save certain species of bats like the “Indiana Bat.” They are also trying to protect bats from fungus on their noses. The book has actual photos that are really interesting. It also discusses bat myths. I liked this book because it taught me a lot about bats. I really liked reading it! It is not scary and is appropriate for upper elementary kids. EL- ADVISABLE. Student Reviewer: ML- age 11.
