The Homeschool Liberation League by Lucy Frank

Frank, Lucy The Homeschool Liberation League, 279 pgs. The Penguin Group, 2009. Language- PG (7 swears, 0 “f”), Sexual Content- PG; Violence- G; On the first day of school, eighth grader Katya walks out the door almost the second she enters. Changed by a summer camp, she believes that homeschool could have more opportunities and may be a better way for her to learn. But when she tries homeschool out, things don’t exactly go as planned. I found this book very uplifting and very educational. To me, it proves that sitting in a classroom all day isn’t the only way to learn. This book taught me that it’s good to have dreams, and if we really want to succeed the way we want to, than we can. Also, this book was filled with funny and awkward moments, making it seem real and like a real insight into the life of an eighth grader.  MS-ESSENTIAL. Reviewer: A.W.
